A Calculator uses users’ answers to generate results based on formulas. These formulas can be simple or advanced and are not limited to point-based logic.

Use a Calculator when you want to:

  • Show a calculated result based on multiple inputs

  • Apply advanced or weighted formulas

  • Help users estimate values, costs, or outcomes

To create a calculator, click Create a new item and select Calculator:

Quiz editor overview

The editor is divided into three main areas:

  • Left panel – Manage the structure of your calculator, including the cover page, questions, and results.

  • Center area – View and edit each card individually. Use the Preview button to see the full calculator as users will experience it.

  • Right panel – Contains three tabs:

    • Content – Edit text and media

    • Design – Apply your brand’s visual style

    • Settings – Control navigation, display options, and behavior

Structure of a calculator

Cover page

Add a title and an optional description. You can upload your own image or video – check this article for more details on media.

Questions

Start by adding your questions. Since formulas can reference multiple-choice and number questions, make sure to include at least one of these types. You can reference an unlimited number of each in your formula.

Creating a Formula and assigning values

  1. Select a multiple-choice or number question from the left panel.

  2. Open the Content tab on the right and click Set calculation:

  3. In the Set calculation tab, define your formula. A formula can include symbols, numbers, and references to multiple-choice and number questions:

  4. If needed, switch to the Set score values tab to assign point values to answers in multiple-choice questions.

Closings

At the end of the calculator, users see their calculated outcome.

You can:

  • Add multiple closings

  • Assign value ranges to control which closing is shown

For example:

  • Results from $0–$1,999 show one closing

  • Results from $2,000–$5,000 show a different closing

Each user sees the closing that matches their result range. Closings can be used to:

  • Explain results

  • Provide recommendations

  • Include an optional call-to-action button

Settings and customization

In the Design tab, you can change colors, fonts, and more to match your brand. Read more about design customization.

The Settings tab gives you advanced control over your calculator. For example, you can remove the Opinion Stage branding, receive email notifications for new entries, set a closing date, adjust navigation options, and more.

Distributing your calculator

Once your calculator is ready, it’s time to share it. Read all about sharing your items here.

Viewing and analyzing results

After users start responding, you can track performance in the Results section, including:

  • Views, starts, and completions

  • Engagement metrics (average time, CTA clicks)

  • Individual responses

  • Exported results

Read more about each results section here.

That’s everything you need to get started with a calculator. If you have questions, reach out through our chat located at the bottom/right of the screen - we’re here to help!
