The Opinion Stage WordPress plugin lets you easily create & add your items to your WordPress site.In this article, you'll find out ways to do the following:
Installing the WordPress plugin
1. In your WordPress admin dashboard, click Plugins:
2. In the search field, enter OpinionStage and choose to install Poll, Survey & Quiz by Opinion Stage:
3. After the plugin is installed, Activate it.
Note: Alternatively, you can download the plugin to your computer and upload it instead of searching for it.
Connecting Opinion Stage to WordPress plugin
Click the Opinion Stage menu in the WordPress dashboard.
If you created an account already, click the Login button and enter your account email/password.
If you haven't yet created an account, click the Create Account button. You will be redirected to the registration page, where you can use Google Connect or enter your email address, followed by your name & password, to complete the account creation.
Answer a few first-time questions so we can personalize the account for your needs.
Tip: This plugin makes it easier to browse, insert, and manage Opinion Stage items without leaving WordPress.
Adding items to posts and pages
WordPress offers two different post/page editors, the Gutenberg editor, and the classic editor. Following are instructions on how to add items in each one of the editors.
Adding an item in the Gutenberg Editor
In the add block dialog, search for opinion stage or for the Opinion Stage element you would like to add (e.g. poll, knowledge quiz, personality quiz, form/survey) and click on it.
For this demonstration, we will select the Poll block. The poll block will be displayed.
To add a poll you created in the past, click Select Item, and from the displayed items widget, Insert the poll you want to add.
Note: To create a new poll, click the Create New button. You will be redirected to the poll creation form to make your poll. After you complete creating your poll, you can refresh the list by clicking the arrows button next to the My Items title.
Adding an item in the Classic Editor
Click the Add a Poll, Survey, Quiz or Form button on the editor interface to launch the item insertion window.
Click Insert next to the item you would like to add.
Adding items to a sidebar widget
In your WordPress dashboard, go to the Widget screen, by clicking the Appearance menu and then the Widgets sub-menu.
From the widget list, add the Opinion Stage Widget to your sidebar.
Enable the Enable Widget checkbox.
Click the Select Item button and insert the item you want to add (you can later change the item by clicking the Change Item button).
Click Save on the widget.
Adding items using shortcodes
You can also embed items using shortcodes.
To get a shortcode, open the item you’d like to publish, go to the Share tab, choose WordPress section and copy the code:
Adding an item to a post or page using the Gutenberg editor
Open the post or page in the Gutenberg editor.
Click the “+” icon to add a new block.
Search for the Shortcode block and select it.
Paste the shortcode you copied into the block.
Save or publish your post/page.
Adding an item to a post or page using the Classic editor
Open your post or page in the Classic editor.
Paste the shortcode directly into the editor where you want the item to appear.
Save or publish your changes.
WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org compatibility
Opinion Stage offers a native plug-in for WordPress.org sites that is free to use. We also provide our plugin for Wordpress.com sites. However, WordPress.com requires its users to upgrade to their business plan to use plugins.
